Two modes to choose from: AI OCR (neural network, best quality) and Standard (no limits, in browser).

  • AI OCR — the neural network "sees" images like a human. Handles screenshots, angled photos, handwriting, and complex layouts. Uses 1 AI request.
  • Standard — works right in your browser, no limits. Best for clear scans and documents with clean printed text.
  • In standard mode, files never leave your device. AI OCR sends the image to a neural network for analysis.

Extract Text from Images — Two Recognition Modes

Extract text from any image: photos of documents, screenshots, business cards, receipts, tables, and even handwritten notes. The tool offers two recognition modes — AI for maximum quality and a standard mode with no limits. Copy the result or download it as a text file.

How to Use

  1. Upload an image — click the upload area or drag and drop an image. JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP are supported.
  2. Choose a mode — "AI OCR" for best quality or "Standard" for unlimited use.
  3. Click "Recognize Text" — AI returns results in 3–5 seconds, standard mode in 5–15 seconds.
  4. Copy or download — click "Copy" or "Download .txt".

AI OCR — Recommended Mode

The AI analyzes the entire image and understands context — handling tasks that classical algorithms cannot:

  • Angled photos — tilted, rotated, with perspective distortion
  • Complex layouts — multi-column documents, tables, mixed text with graphics
  • UI screenshots — chat conversations, menus, buttons, product cards
  • Handwritten text — notes, filled-in forms, handwritten documents
  • Low quality — blurry photos, poor lighting, small fonts
  • Any language — automatically detects the language, no manual selection needed

AI OCR uses 1 AI request from your daily limit (10 for guests, 30 for registered users). This limit is shared with AI Chat, Rewriter, and Summarizer.

Standard Mode

For users who need to recognize many images without limits. Works entirely in your browser — files never leave your device.

  • No limits — recognize as many images as you want, completely free
  • Privacy — files are never uploaded to any server
  • Works even offline — after the first run, the language model is cached locally
  • Language selection — 7 languages: Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Russian + English combo
  • Preprocessing — automatic contrast enhancement, B&W mode for scans

Standard mode works best with clear scans and documents with clean printed text. For complex images, we recommend AI OCR.

What You Can Recognize

  • Documents — IDs, contracts, invoices, certificates
  • Receipts and bills — store receipts, invoices, payment confirmations
  • Screenshots — chat conversations, web pages, app interfaces
  • Business cards — contact details, addresses, phone numbers
  • Books and textbooks — pages, notes, scanned study materials
  • Signs and labels — text from ads, signs, notices
  • Filled-in forms — applications, questionnaires, handwritten entries (AI OCR)

For PDF documents, use PDF to Text (text layer extraction) or PDF to JPG + OCR for scanned documents.

Tips for Better Results

  • Use AI OCR for photos — the AI handles tilt, shadows, glare, and complex layouts
  • High-contrast text — black text on a white background gives the best results in both modes
  • Good lighting — even lighting without shadows or glare significantly improves accuracy
  • Crop excess — less visual noise around the text means more accurate recognition
  • Switch modes — if one mode gives poor results, try the other
  • Resolution — for standard mode, 300 DPI or higher is optimal; AI OCR works well even with low resolution

FAQ

What is the difference between AI OCR and standard mode?
AI OCR uses a neural network that "sees" images like a human — it understands context, handles tilted text, handwriting, and complex layouts. Standard mode uses a classical algorithm for character analysis — works without limits and runs entirely in your browser.

Is it safe to upload confidential documents?
In standard mode — completely safe: files are processed locally and never leave your device. In AI OCR mode, the image is sent to the server for analysis — we do not store uploaded images.

Which mode is better for my task?
Use AI OCR for photos, screenshots, handwriting, and low-quality images. Standard mode is best for bulk recognition of clear scans and documents.

Can it recognize handwritten text?
Yes — in AI OCR mode. The neural network confidently recognizes handwritten notes and filled-in forms. Standard mode is not suitable for handwriting.

What are AI requests?
These are daily limit units shared across all AI tools: chat, rewriter, summarizer, and OCR. Guests get 10 requests per day, registered users get 30. Standard mode does not use AI requests.

Does it work without internet?
Standard mode — yes, after the first use the language model is cached in your browser. AI OCR requires an internet connection.
